LaJune Singleton has released her debut book ‘Releasing My Trauma’ in 2021. With this book, she aims to impact the lives of those who struggle to get over their unresolved emotional trauma.

LaJune Singleton, Author of Releasing My Trauma

LaJune Singleton is an author and a certified wellness coach from Maryland, USA. She published her memoir titled ‘Releasing My Trauma’ in 2021 with an aim to impact the lives of people who are struggling with their inner trauma and self-sabotaging behavior.

She was born December 27th in Shreveport and raised in Jonesboro, Louisiana. Her mother was a homemaker and her father cut logs and fished; she has a sister who is five years older.

LaJune’s childhood wasn’t an easy one. She was molested at a young age and had to face the death of her father. After her father passed away her mother worked as a housekeeper, babysitter, and cook at Dairy Queen growing up.

She was quite athletic and played multiple sports but a severe injury pushed her into depression, weight gain, and eventually lost her job. She gathered herself up and started the journey to fight her trauma and take control of her life.

Then, it did not take really long for LaJune to become board certified health coach, mindset strategist, nutritional lifestyle coach, cycling instructor, and personal trainer with over 10 years of experience.

Further, LaJune Singleton shared about her childhood, her writing journey, her inspirations, and more interesting things about herself. Here are all of her interesting answers.

What were you like at school? Any childhood memory you would like to share.

I was quiet at times and enjoyed my time with my friends. A childhood memory of playing softball with my sister and cousin.

What are your educational qualifications?

Associate of Arts in Fashion & Interior Merchandising, Bachelor of Science in Human Services, Master of Science in Public Health, Certified Advanced Personal Trainer, Health & Wellness Coach, Nutrition and Healthy Living Certification, Cycling Instructor, and Board-Certified Health Coach.

What is your biggest achievement till today?

My biggest achievement till today is inspiring and helping women on their journey toward an overall healthy lifestyle change.

Maya Angelou, Iyanla Vanzant, Bob Proctor, Oprah Winfrey, Michelle Obama, Cicely Tyson

Writing is stressful at times. How do you relax your mind?

Listening to music, meditating, and workout.

What is your favorite motivational phrase?

You don’t manifest what you want, you manifest who you are.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

It is okay to forgive and let go.

What books do you like to read personally?

Self-help, inspirational, and Memoirs.

If you could have been the original author of any book, what would it have been and why?

Maya Angelou’s “Why the Cage Bird Sings”. I felt caged for years and her story was like my childhood experiences.

What made you decide to sit down and actually start writing?

To truly let go of the past and help others who experienced the same trauma know that they deserve healing, peace, joy. and happiness.

Do you have a special time to write or how is your day structured?

When the mood hits me to write.

What is the reason you write for; is it for the readers or your own self or some other thing?

I write to education, advocate, inspire, and offer insight.

About your Book: Releasing My Trauma

Releasing My Trauma by LaJune Singleton is her memoir where she shares her trauma from her past and describes how it impacts our lives mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

With this book, she wants readers to first acknowledge their unresolved emotions such as anger, fears, pain, grief and discover the reason behind their self-sabotaging behavior in life. Further, she discusses how she herself got out of all this and everyone can do the same.

What genre is your book? What draws you to this genre?

Inspirational, Self-help Memoir.  The book is about my life and experience of life after trauma, grief, abandonment, and heartache to joy, peace, happiness, and self-love.

What was the inspiration behind writing this book?

A retreat in Bali, helped me with releasing my past.

With so many self-help books out there, what makes ‘Releasing My Trauma’ to stand out in this genre? What should a reader expect from it?

Releasing My Trauma stands out in this genre because it offers aware of how the past can lead you self-sabotaging actions and behaviors in relationships, careers, self-treatment.

The readers can expect to read about my life of hurt, the acknowledgment of childhood traumas was destroying me and my journey to turning it around positively.

In the book, you have shared heartfelt emotions that you’ve gone through personally. What was the hardest & the easiest thing to write in such way?

The hardest was reliving my experiences as I wrote about it and the easiest was discussing my time with my father.

Future Plans

What are your ambitions for your writing career?

My ambitions are to be in the top 100 and to positively impact as many individuals as possible.

Are you working on your new project? Not currently. What will be your next book about?

What does success mean to you as an Author?

Success means to me as an author is reaching, educating, and inspiring readers towards healing and finding inner peace.

Do you prefer self-publishing or traditional publishing and Why?

Combination of both, which you have input on the process of your work. Traditional publishing takes the stress off you in the publishing process.
