I was inspired to share my story with others in the hope to let them know that while we may come across challenging times in our lives that it is possible to start a new beginning and create a better future. Caitlin Burr, Author
What genre is your book? What draws you to this genre?
My book is a self-help book. I believe we are always looking for ways to improve ourselves, so this genre helps me connect with books that lead me in the direction I desire to go in.
How was the idea for the book originated?
The idea came about years ago when my mom passed away; however, I completed the content months before it was published. I think the Growth and Gratitude sections could not have been completed until later because I was still going through those phases over the years.
Cait’s character is really strong. What was the inspiration behind the character?
Well, Cait is me! It is based on a true story and the inspiration is sharing my story with others!
What makes ‘Grief, Growth and Gratitude’ stand out in this genre? What should a reader expect from it?
I think this read stands out because it is a heartfelt read. I put my heart into my writing and truly expressed everything I was feeling through my process. I also share other aspects of grief and how I overcame it.
Ultimately, I thank grief later in the book and show how I transformed my experiences into something greater. The reader can expect a unique perspective from it and can gain much wisdom from the read.
I also wrote two original poems and I believe that many can relate to both. One is dedicated to my mother and the other talks a lot about self-love.
The book shares a deeply personal experience. What was the hardest & the easiest thing about writing such a book?
I think the hardest thing to write was the grief section of my book. It was difficult to discuss the loss of a loved one. Ultimately, the growth section of the book was the easiest to write because I was able to share what helped me heal and bring me to a sense of gratitude for my journey.
Any special experience while writing ‘Grief, Growth and Gratitude’ that you would like to share.
I think the special experience while writing this read was that my creativity was enhanced greatly. I was able to write two poems completely from scratch and I felt like everything flowed with the read.
