Book Review : The Trespasser by Tana French

The Trespasser by Tana French is the sixth book in Dublin Murder Squad series. This book stars Antoinette Conway and her partner Steve Moran, who were previously featured in The Secret Place. But this time, Conway is the lead detective.

The story of The Trespasser is about another murder as per all previous books in the Murder Squad series. A blonde, pretty and young woman, Aislinn Murray, is found dead in her living room, next to a table set for a romantic dinner. There is no clear evidence around to point towards the direction of the investigation.

Conway is the only female in the Murder squad. And, most men are trying to make her quit except for Steve.  His wavelengths match with Conway, ‘not’ romantically, though. Solving this case may strengthen her position in the squad but this could also be a prank by other to push her out of the squad.

Conway and Moran frame multiple theories with the evidence at hand. There is another detective who is assigned to the case – Breslin; and he mysteriously tries to force them into one of the theories according to which Aislinn’s boyfriend is the prime suspect.

With brilliantly depicted interrogation and police procedures, during the climax of The Trespasser by Tana French, Conway finds a number of evidence which eventually complicate the case until the dead woman’s friend drops a hazy clue. Towards the end, magically things make sense but there are some hows and whys that will keep the readers guessing. The pace of the story is slow but nowhere near boring.
